I experienced hanging notes with the midi player when clicking in a MIDI file to listen. Could not stop the notes, even with all notes off command.

Did anyone else of you sometimes have problem getting Opusmodus and Ableton Live talk to each other via an IAC bus (on a Mac)? I confirmed that Ableton can receive MIDI notes from other sources on this bus, and that MIDI data from Opusmodus is received by other programs on this bus. Also, the MIDI track indicator shows that the program receives MIDI input from Opusmodus, and just in case in the MIDI track I made sure that all MIDI inputs and channels are received. I also created a new Live set to make sure I did not accidentally do some stupid setting anyway. It worked earlier and strangely it works again after a restart, but I now ran multiple tim…

Hi, I'm trying to send out microtonal midi via pitchbend on four different channels. It works when I do it in score with def-score, but I can't get it to work with the ps function. Here is a snippet from my def-instrument-set :violin-nonvib (:layout violin-layout :port '(0 1 2 3) :channel 1 :sound 'gm :program 0 :controllers nil :pan (pan 0) :volume 92) and here is my ps function (ps 'my-inst :violin-nonvib (list '((s a4 f leg d5 leg fs4 leg d5 leg g4 leg d5) …

Hello, here's one of my personal orchestral template. It use plogue Bidule as host (because some special KeySwitch configuration) and EastWest Hollywood orchestra and East west Convolution reverb (but you can replace it by another one). You can use this template and associated files (soundset etc..) as this or use it as a base for designing you own and take inspiration from it. Attached you will find and audio example of the raw output of the template, the template itself (.opmo), the Bidule file and the soundset necessary to drive this template. Put the BaseOrch4.bidule file into the Instrument/Templates folder …

This may be too early on to ask the question, but anyone on the Windows version, and using Ableton as DAW? Any MIDI setup issues? Am still using trial, and have a big learning curve ahead of me, but wanted to check on that as a matter of due diligence. Thanks!

To find out the midi ports setup of your system, please evaluate the (midi-destinations) function: (midi-destinations) => ((0 . "Bus 1") (1 . "Bus 2") (2 . "Bus 3") (3 . "Bus 4") (4 . "Bus 5") (5 . "Bus 6") (6 . "Bus 7") (7 . "Bus 8") (8 . "Bus 9") (9 . "Bus 10") (10 . "Bus 11") (11 . "Bus 12") (12 . "Bus 13") (13 . "Bus 14") (14 . "Bus 15") (15 . "Bus 16") (16 . "Session 1") (17 . "Keyboard") (18 . "MIDI OUT") (19 . "UM-ONE")) There are two possible ways to assign a port. One is with the port number and the other is with the port name (a string). (instrument :omn omn-form :port 0 :channel 1 :sound 'reaktor …

Is it possible to send out midi from one instrument on different channels? For example, a violin that will send out everything marked 'ordinario' on channel 1, 'trem' on channel 2, 'tasto' on channel 3 'artificial harmonic' on channel 4 and so on? Or is it only possible to send out program changes with these different attributes? I'm using the UVI Workstation with the Ircam solo instruments, and they have implemented it so you can have all the different techniques on the different midi channels, and it doesn't respond to program changes. Thanks Anders

Is it possible to reduce MIDI gate lengths slightly (without resorting to using shorter lengths and rests)? Some of my external instruments have trouble receiving 'gate on' messages during continuous passages of notes.

I have the question if it is possible to export a snippet as midi-file with the information about the midi-tuning. If I play a omn via Opusmodus eg. (cmd 1) via gm or in my case via pianoteq I hear the quarter tons (If midi-tuning is activated in Pianoteq), exporting a midi File and import it eg. directly into the pianoteq plugin, the midi-tuning is not played any more. The same importing eg. a xml-File into Sibelius (quarter ton notation no problem) or a midi-file into Logic or Ableton. I would like to export scores as midi-files from Opusmodus with the possibility to keep the midi-tuning information, is there a solution? Thank you very much…

Hello, I would like to use two samplers for Violin sound, UVI and Kontakt on the same midi channel. I am going to use Kontakt for Classic articulations and the UVI for the extended techniques. My problem is that def-sound-set function can't send different midi channels for different articulations. If I use two different midi channels for different articulations, for the same instrument they will of course sound together. Can anyone please help? Thank you Nikos

This is a tough one: Anybody know what could be causing a Logic track to load a very specific new channel strip setting whenever I hit Command 1 and Bus 1, channel 1 is set in the Prefs? I've tried with lots of different score examples that AFAIK don't specify any particular instrument… What sort of message could that be, anyway? It's not a Program Change one, is it?, since it's loading a different plugin PLUS a MIDI FX neither of which I had loaded originally…!? TIA! Related: In trying to troubleshoot this, I've tried closing Logic and with the same OM settings, setting a track in Live to receive IAC data, but can't get this working. Is there already some guide posted…

So I've sorted out sending 16 channels of midi from OM to Logic through an IAC bus. I'm now ready to build a bigger template. I've created 4 OM ports in IAC: OM-1, OM-2, OM-3, OM-4. How do I access these ports in tracks in Logic and assign them to these additional ports and 16 midi channels each? Do I need to go in and wire up the Environment? Yikes! Thanks for any help!

I just tried the microtuning function in version 2.0 and it's briliant. But I get this message from the listener: "Instrument "synth-moog" used the MIDI Tuning System for microtones. To use Pitch-Bend instead would require at least 2 ports." Where can I find documentation to use the microtonal midi output in Logic and/or in Kontakt, if it's possible, to control my virtual instruments ? Thanks Alain

I was able to set up Logic or Opusmodus playback via IAC driver by loading a Logic setup file into my workspace (saved in Documents folder). In this way, I can audition short snippets and lines of code, which playback through Logic just fine (OMN Audition + Notation). However, I'm having difficulties with evaluating and auditioning the whole score (Evaluate Score Audition + Notation). I'm including a short code example for your reference in case you have any feedback. And here's the listener error code: > Error: OMN Parse Error: fail > While executing: omn-to-ast, in process Listener-8(63). Thank you for your time and help! …

Hi, I have a list of 30 midi-velocities that I want to map to 30 pitches, how can I do that without converting the velocities into symbols? Is that possible in OM (it is not for human players but for virtual instruments)? (setf vel '(1 5 10 14 19 23 27 32 36 41 44 50 53 57 62 66 71 75 79 84 88 93 97 102 105 109 114 118 123 127)) converted to symbols it looks like: (ppppp ppppp pppp pppp pppp ppp ppp pp pp pp p p mp mp mp mf mf f f f ff ff fff fff fff ffff ffff ffff fffff fffff) which is not as 'smooth' as I want it..but make-omn seems to handle only velocity-symbol or am I missing something? thanks for help!
