  1. Hi guys,

I imported a raw midi file which comes from an unbarred, no clear metre performance, I am getting code like this:

    Quote

    (bos :omn
                '(-w_h_s. 265/1024 as5 -163/512 s_t_x_2x.. as5 -1205/1024
                  275/1024 as5 -335/1024 e_2x.. as5

Am I correct in assuming that the fractions are simply an added to the length value? because the values are irrational numbers?

    thanks!

    Julio

  2. Hi guys,

When there is an update, do we go to the downloads page and fill in all our details again to download the update or is there a place where registered users can download them from without having to fill the form each time?

    Thanks!

    Julio

  3. Hi guys,

I am trying to work with some music recorded freely and thus with no quantised meter, one of the snippets looks like this:

when I do an 'audition omn' command-1, I get the error below, am I right in suspecting it is because there is no meter? I tried get and calculate time signature just in case I could get some crazy irrational value just to satisfy the software, but it doesn't work either... admittedly I am not using the language to make a score but to manipulate an existing performance. This is the error:

    Error: The GET-SPAN output denominator is not a power of two (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, ...). Denominator: 640.
    > While executing: (:internal get-time-signature-l get-time-signature), in process Listener-1(7).

    Thanks for your help!

  4. Hey guys,

Can I change the .rtfd font size? it's for being able to comfortably read the language/tutorial guide documents as I can control the composer and the listener but not the assistant help docs...

It's too small for me, and I have a large screen as well.

    Thanks!

  5. Hi again!

I am trying to to a MIDI to score transcription and I am setting min value to 1/32, tupelos to any and velocity to symbol. When I play the midi file with the midi player, all works well, yet after I transcript to score and I try and play the OMN file, I get long notes broken into shorter ones, kind of like if ties were being ignored and thus notes were repeated to form the longer originally tied notes... what should I do? is there any parameter I am missing in settings?

    thanks!

    Julio

  6. Hi guys,

I am trying to successively modify a set, and I am looking at the quick start as my model but mine does not work... so, I create a set that I call 'bird1', I then randomise the pitch order and assign it to the variable 'mix', then I want to retrograde that and assign it to 'retromix'... but as I can check each snippet, I am trying to do so to see what results at each step, yet when I check the last one, I get an error and no sound... yet when I just execute the snippet, there is no error...

    setting the first list

    (setf bird1
    '(( q as5 -e -t) (-e -t e as5 -h -e..)
      (-q... q as5 tie t -q) (-s e as5 -h -q -t fs5 tie)
      (z^s cs6 t fs5 - t^s f6 s ds6 e as5 tie t - s ds5 h gs5 tie t -s)
      (-11/32 s fs5 t^s cs6 s f6 t^s ds6 e as5 tie t - t^s ds5 q gs5 tie)
      (t gs5 -h. e.. ds5 tie) (s ds5 -q -t e ds5 -h -t)
      (-e q. ds5 -et s. ds5 -q))
     )

    making it randomise by pitch

(setf mix '(rnd-order bird1 :type :pitch :seed 500))

trying to get it to retrograde but I cannot test the snippet

    (setf retromix '(gen-retrograde mix))

when I do command+E I get (gen-retrograde mix), which I expect, but why can't I listen to the snippet and get an error instead?

    Thank you!

    Julio

  7. Hi guys,

Just going through the quick start examples of algorithmic composing, and there is something that has been happening from the beginning:

I open Quickstart, I choose Lesson 2, for example. I use the up/down arrows to navigate through the various .opmo documents, I navigate down, skimming through the text, right down to document 8 and when I navigate back up, documents 5 and 6 appear blank... this has happened to me also with tutorial 1. What I have done is to restore the quick start document and go again. I have also tried opening those docs independently but still blank! what is happening?

    thanks!

  8. ah! OK, I went by steps originally, so I assumed all had been set by the full score... hum.

just tried it again and it gives the error even if I evaluate the full score first... this snippet:

    (setf pitch-transp (7 -12 pitches))

    returns:

Error: Car of (7 -12 pitches) is not a function name or lambda-expression.
    > While executing: ccl::cheap-eval-in-environment, in process Listener-2(38).

still think it is an error...

    :)

  9. the function is missing here:

    ;;; Lesson 2 - Algorithmic
    ;;; 4. Pitches
    ;;;---------------------------------------------------------

    (setf pitch-transp (7 -12 pitches))

;; Now let's transpose those pitches down an octave.

    this snippet eval gives this:

    > Error: Car of (7 -12 pitches) is not a function name or lambda-expression.
    > While executing: ccl::cheap-eval-in-environment, in process Listener-1(8).

so I checked back to the Full score and it says this:

    (setf pitch-transp (pitch-transpose -12 pitches))

which works and makes sense! the name of the setfield is quite similar to the function which can be confusing...

Just thought I would point this out for the benefit of other newbies!

  10. Hi guys,

From both supercollider and Max, I am used to clicking an object (in this case it would be function) and bringing up a help file.

Is there a similar shortcut here in OM? or do I always have to highlight the function, copy it, then go to the Utilities Panel, Select 'Search', paste in the function name, and then get the help file?

just not used to taking so many steps to invoke help!
