  1. So, I am correct in thinking that is the raw duration? Good. I have no interest in quantising this because I need to preserve the raw performance at this stage. Thanks!
  2. Hi guys, I imported a raw midi file which comes from an unbarred, no clear metre performance, I am getting code like this: Am I correct in assuming that the fractions are simply an added to the length value? because the values are irrational numbers? thanks! Julio
  3. ha! in Venezuela we say "had it been a snake, it would have bitten you" thanks! J
  4. Hi guys, When there is an update, do we go to the downloads page and fill in all our details again to download the update or is there a place where registered users can download them from without having to fill the form each time? Thanks! Julio
  5. Hi guys, I am trying to work with some music recorded freely and thus with no quantised meter, one of the snippets looks like this: (setf longlist '(-27881/1920 181/480^281/240 d4 p 5t..^h_e_s_x as2 mp 739/1920^q_5w fs3 5u^h_q_e_t_15e ds2 331/960^451/960 gs3 q_e_x_u_3x^h_x_3t as3 q_t_x_u_3x fs3 -t_u_3x 133/384^h_e_s_t_3x gs3 q_x_u_3x ds5 mf -s_3t e_x_15e^q_e_s_15h fs3 pp 43/320 ds5 mp -301/1920 163/384^1139/1920 gs3 q_e_u^803/640 d4 mf 3t^223/640 as2 mp 243/640^q_e_t.. fs3 17/640^221/1920 ds2 141/320^q_e_s_t_x_15e gs3 347/960^h_t as3 pp 217/640 fs3 -3x 589/1920^h_e_s_t_u gs3 p 89/480 ds5 -e_s_u e_x_u_3x^h_x_u_3x fs3 pp s_t_x_u_3x ds5 -e_s_3e 371/960^211/384 gs3 mp t_x_15s^h_t_x_15s b1 145/384^w_q_t_u_3x d4 mf 5s^q_s_t_u fs2 mp 631/1920^q_e_s_x_15e fs3 t_5s^3q d3 43/120^h_e_s_5q gs3 113/320^73/120 as3 3t^q_e_t_x_5s fs2 3w^487/960 fs3 3t^647/960 gs3 q_s_3t^h_q_u b1 121/384^h_e_s_t.. d4 mf 15t^q_e_u_3x fs3 mp q_s_u_3x^751/1920 fs2 5u^77/640 d3 mf 11/240^11/15 gs3 163/640 as3 -t_15e q_3e^h_e_s_x_u_3x d4 19/384^q_e_t_x_u_3x fs2 mp 109/384^q_s.. fs3 x.^757/384 b1 t_3x^h_q_u gs3 497/1920 as3 -15e.. q_s_t_x_5t^h_q_s_t_x_u_5t d4 mf u_15s^q_e_t_3x fs3 mp q_s_x^163/480 fs2 47/1920^91/960 d3 q_e_t_3x^q_e_t_3s gs3 mf q_e_x^h_s_t_5e as3 e_s_t.. d4 mp -e_x_15s 401/960^h_s_t_x_u_5t as4 43/384^q_u gs1 139/384^q_e_t_x_u_3x as5 p x_u_3x^763/1920 d4 mp e_x_u_3x^q_e_u as4 89/960 as5 -43/384 5u^h_3t ds4 679/1920^h_3t fs4 15x^s_u gs2 pp 89/960 ds3 -e_s_x_u_3x u_15s^613/1920 d4 mp 331/960 as4 -15u 5s^359/1920 ds4 p e_t_3x fs4 pp - 3h as5 mf - 3u^643/1920 d4 p e_s_t_u_3x^q_e_3s as4 pp 43/384 as5 p -31/640 15s^317/1920 fs4 pp 167/960 ds4 -q_3h u_3x^q_t. d4 mp q_s_3x as4 -3t 5u^e_15s fs4 e_15q ds4 -q_e_u_15s u_5t^q_5e. d4 x.^109/384 as4 31/640^t_x_u_3x fs5 mf t_x_5t^137/1920 cs6 t.^t_x_u_15s f6 t_u_3x^s_3t ds6 mp 133/1920^q_e_3t as5 15x^s_15q ds4 t_3s fs4 -e_x. s_u_15s^43/384 ds5 41/960^343/1920 gs5 mf 15q..^h_e_s_x as2 287/960^331/480 f3 3u^q_e_3s b4 mp 781/1920^163/384 e4 15u^611/1920 f4 347/960^q_e_5s gs4 15u^h_t.. gs2 p 223/640^587/960 ds3 u_3x^q_e_t d4 mp 63/160^q_e_t.. as4 5u^s_t_3x fs4 p 31/320 ds4 -q_e_s_t_u_3x 15x^q_t_x_5s d4 mp 43/1920^271/960 as4 t_x_5s fs5 mf -15x 11/240^23/320 cs6 5q f6 mp -15u t_5s^t_x_5s ds6 s_x_15e^q_e_x_3t as5 mf 15u^23/320 ds4 mp t_x_5s fs4 -137/960 139/1920^53/640 ds5 p 77/1920^341/1920 gs5 mf 5u^443/640 as2 mp 217/640^h_e_s_t_x_15e f3 5s^q_e_t_u e4 q_e_u_3x^q_e_5e. b4 15x^e_s_t_3s f4 629/1920 gs4 -s_15h 5x^697/640 gs2 397/960^h_q_e_t.. ds3 15x^q_e_t_x_15e d4 q_e_t_5s^467/960 as4 15s..^e_t_5s ds4 89/480 fs4)) when I do an 'audition omn' command-1, I get the error below, am I right in suspecting it is because there is no meter? I tried get and calculate time signature just in case I could get some crazy irrational value just to satisfy the software, but it doesn't work either... admittedly I am not using the language to make a score but to manipulate an existing performance. This is the error: Error: The GET-SPAN output denominator is not a power of two (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, ...). Denominator: 640. > While executing: (:internal get-time-signature-l get-time-signature), in process Listener-1(7). Thanks for your help! Julio
  6. oh man!! you are plain awesome, Janusz!! Thank you so much!! downloading now, and sorry for all the stupid questions!!!!
  7. Hey guys, Can I change the .rtfd font size? it's for being able to comfortably read the language/tutorial guide documents as I can control the composer and the listener but not the assistant help docs... It's too small for me, and I have a large screen as well. Thanks! Julio
  8. Ok, I will do that now. but off-list as this MIDI file is not publicly available and I am not authorised to distribute it. Thank you!
  9. Hi again! I am trying to to a MIDI to score transcription and I am setting min value to 1/32, tupelos to any and velocity to symbol. When I play the midi file with the midi player, all works well, yet after I transcript to score and I try and play the OMN file, I get long notes broken into shorter ones, kind of like if ties were being ignored and thus notes were repeated to form the longer originally tied notes... what should I do? is there any parameter I am missing in settings? thanks! Julio
  10. Hi guys, I am trying to successively modify a set, and I am looking at the quick start as my model but mine does not work... so, I create a set that I call 'bird1', I then randomise the pitch order and assign it to the variable 'mix', then I want to retrograde that and assign it to 'retromix'... but as I can check each snippet, I am trying to do so to see what results at each step, yet when I check the last one, I get an error and no sound... yet when I just execute the snippet, there is no error... setting the first list (setf bird1 '(( q as5 -e -t) (-e -t e as5 -h -e..) (-q... q as5 tie t -q) (-s e as5 -h -q -t fs5 tie) (z^s cs6 t fs5 - t^s f6 s ds6 e as5 tie t - s ds5 h gs5 tie t -s) (-11/32 s fs5 t^s cs6 s f6 t^s ds6 e as5 tie t - t^s ds5 q gs5 tie) (t gs5 -h. e.. ds5 tie) (s ds5 -q -t e ds5 -h -t) (-e q. ds5 -et s. ds5 -q)) ) making it randomise by pitch (setf mix '(rnd-order bird1 :type :pitch :seed 500)) trying to get it to retrograde but I cannot test the snippet (setf retromix '(gen-retrograde mix)) when I do command+E I get (gen-retrograde mix), which I expect, but why can't I listen to the snippet and get an error instead? Thank you! Julio
  11. Thank you guys, yes it was the diminuendo to ff!!! I am still not used to visually parsing the note events so I missed that. Must look at the listener more often! :) much appreciated!!! Julio
  12. I reopened my mac after sleep and the files now show... so I cannot reproduce it just now, but it has happened several times... I will try and screen capture it next time!
  13. Hi guys, Why would this notate but not play? '((s f5 ffff t e4 = = = = s f4 pp t f3 >) (t f3 > t f4 > t f4 > e f3 > trem) (e g2 ff s f5 ppp s g6 sfz stacc f3 mp)) it creates the score without any problems but will not play back... thank you!
  14. Hi guys, Just going through the quick start examples of algorithmic composing, and there is something that has been happening from the beginning: I open Quickstart, I choose Lesson 2, for example. I use the up/down arrows to navigate through the various .opmo documents, I navigate down, skimming through the text, right down to document 8 and when I navigate back up, documents 5 and 6 appear blank... this has happened to me also with tutorial 1. What I have done is to restore the quick start document and go again. I have also tried opening those docs independently but still blank! what is happening? thanks! 15. Hi Stephane, I saw this a few days ago and just now remembered to say thanks! :) thanks!!
  16. Yes please!, to stop idiots like me modifying the code and then finding their own error!!! hahahahahaha!! Thank you for your patience, I promise I will not be this needy in the future! :-)
  17. could I have changed that myself to create the error? I tried to change it earlier but it told me those files were protected... sorry for the hassle!!
  18. that's what I thought... by the way, this software is simply awesome!! I am slowly going through it as I think this may substitute my use of the pattern library from supercollider... :-)
  19. ah! OK, I went by steps originally, so I assumed all had been set by the full score... hum. just tried it again and it gives the error even if I evaluate the full score first... this snippet: (setf pitch-transp (7 -12 pitches)) returns: Error: Car of (7 -12 pitches) is not a function name or lambda-expression. > While executing: ccl::cheap-eval-in-environment, in process Listener-2(38). still think it is an error... :)
  20. the function is missing here: ;;; Lesson 2 - Algorithmic ;;; 4. Pitches ;;;--------------------------------------------------------- (setf pitch-transp (7 -12 pitches)) ;; Now let's transpose those pitches down an octave. this snippet eval gives this: > Error: Car of (7 -12 pitches) is not a function name or lambda-expression. > While executing: ccl::cheap-eval-in-environment, in process Listener-1(8). so I checked back to the Full score and it says this: (setf pitch-transp (pitch-transpose -12 pitches)) which works and makes sense! the name of the setfield is quite similar to the function which can be confusing... Just thought I would point this out for the benefit of other newbies! julio
  21. oh yes! I knew there had it be a faster way! thank you! I'd put that right at the start of the tutorial! :)
  22. Hi guys, From both supercollider and Max, I am used to clicking an object (in this case it would be function) and bringing up a help file. Is there a similar shortcut here in OM? or do I always have to highlight the function, copy it, then go to the Utilities Panel, Select 'Search', paste in the function name, and then get the help file? just not used to taking so many steps to invoke help! Lazy in West Yorkshire
  23. ok, I see, that is useful, but are they randomly coloured? because in that sequence there are no chords... the mind boggles... :)
