Opusmodus provides an integrated environment for generating, transforming, playing and notating microtonal music. Work with quarter tones, eighth tones, cent deviations, tuning ratios and other pitch divisions as part of an algorithmic composition process.
Microtonal material remains connected to OMN, musical functions, playback and staff notation. Composers can move between symbolic pitches, numerical values, frequencies and tuning information without separating tuning from the wider musical structure.
Opusmodus treats microtonal pitches as structured musical information. They can be written symbolically, generated algorithmically, converted between representations, transformed and displayed in staff notation.
Represent microtonal pitches with OMN symbols and display them using corresponding accidentals in conventional staff notation.
Quantise numerical pitches, pitch symbols or OMN material to semitone, quarter-tone or eighth-tone pitch grids.
Move between pitch symbols, intervals, MIDI values, frequencies, cents, ratios and tuning values for compositional and analytical use.
Generate, map, filter, transpose and reorganise microtonal material while preserving its tuning information and musical relationships.
Microtonal pitches in Opusmodus remain part of the same symbolic workflow used for conventional musical material. Composers can write them directly in OMN, generate them with functions or derive them by converting frequencies, cents, ratios and numerical pitch values.
Because the tuning information remains attached to the musical material, pitch structures can be transformed without losing their microtonal identity. Rhythms, dynamics and articulations can be developed independently and then recombined with the resulting pitches.
Write quarter tones and eighth tones directly, or generate pitches from numerical and tuning data.
Transpose, map, filter, reorder and quantise microtonal pitch structures.
Audition the material using the appropriate microtonal playback configuration.
Display the result with corresponding microtonal accidentals in staff notation.
