Noobie here. I can't figure out how to make the color choices I'd like permanent in the latest Window version. Any solution would be very welcome. Thanks!

You can customize the syntax highlighting colors in Tools → Preferences… → Colors.

Thanks, but that doesn't work for test. I made a nice blue background with white text and all was well until the next time I booted up. Everything was good -- all my color choices were there except the text, which reverted to black.

The text (not code) is in the light mode always black.

Ah, I figured it out. The OM pop-up menu that offers the user the option to choose light or dark mode isn't a choice. What it means is that the color palette is one which will suit whether the operating system (in this case Windows) is in light or dark mode. So, when I reconfigured Windows to dark mode, I got the text in white and could configure the other colors to my taste. Perhaps this might be made clear in Section 11.2.1.3 in the manual.
